During a lip lift, Dr. Schalit will make a precise incision on the base of your nose and follow your natural creases. He will then pull your upper lip, remove any excess tissue, and place sutures. In most cases, a lip lift is performed under local anesthesia. In most cases, a lip lift takes 1 to 2 hours.

After a lip lift, you may face a bit of swelling for up to 72 hours, which can be improved with the use of cold compresses. Dr. Schalit can prescribe pain medication to ease any pain or discomfort you may experience.

You can expect your sutures to be removed in 7-10 days after the procedure. Complete healing typically takes anywhere between six and 12 weeks. If you have a lighter skin tone and thinner lips, you’ll likely recover more quickly than a patient with darker skin and thicker lips.

Patients treated with a lip lift often see:

  • More youthful lips.
