Cheek Lift Purpose
Over time, the structures that give your face its youthful shape can sag and change position, altering your complexion. A cheek lift is a surgical procedure designed to restore your face’s original shape, making your cheeks appear fuller and more youthful while reducing the appearance of nasolabial folds (smile lines) on either side of the nose.
Cheek Lift Procedure
Dr. Schalit begins your cheek lift procedure by making an incision along the hairline near the temple. He then inserts sutures (stitches) into the fat pads under the cheek to pull them into a more desirable, youthful position. Depending on your needs, the procedure may also require changing the position of underlying facial muscle, priming them to support new fat pad positions long-term.
During the procedure, Dr. Schalit may use an endoscope to peer into the cheek cavity and assess your individual requirements. He may recommend combining a cheek lift with other cosmetic interventions, such as a facelift.
Cheek Lift Recovery
Because a cheek lift is a surgical intervention, recovery typically takes between two and three weeks. The majority of patients are able to resume their regular activities after a week or so.
During recovery, you should take any pain or anti-inflammatory medications Dr. Schalit prescribes. You should also avoid any vigorous or strenuous physical activity for at least two weeks.
