Are skin issues like hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, or acne scars marring your complexion? Chemical peels are a personalizable treatment that can improve your skin’s health and appearance.

What is a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels have become a popular cosmetic treatment for individuals looking to improve the appearance of their skin. A chemical solution is applied to the skin, which exfoliates and removes the top layer of damaged skin to reveal a smoother, more youthful complexion.

Chemical peels are customizable to your specific needs and goals. They can be performed on the face, neck, hands, and other areas of the body to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, acne, and other skin imperfections. Chemical peels range from superficial peels that are mild and require little downtime to deeper peels that may require several days or weeks of recovery time.

What to Expect After a Chemical Peel

After a chemical peel, it is normal to experience some redness, swelling, and peeling of the skin. Depending on the depth of the peel, these side effects can last anywhere from a few days to several weeks. Similarly, recovery time after a chemical peel will depend on the depth of your peel.

A light chemical peel requires little to no downtime, with mild redness and skin sensitivity lasting for a couple of days afterward. Side effects after a medium-depth peel last longer, and you may want to take a few days of downtime while your skin heals. Deep chemical peels can cause significant redness and peeling that lasts up to a month. You may need to take one or two weeks of downtime after a deep chemical peel.

Chemical Peel Results

The results of a chemical peel depend on the depth of the peel and the individual’s skin type and concerns. A light chemical peel provides fast results that last a few weeks, and you may need multiple peels for optimal benefits. The results of a medium peel appear within a couple of weeks and may last several months. Finally, it may take a couple of months to see improvements from a deep chemical peel, but the results last many years.

Chemical peels can help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, acne, and other skin imperfections. In addition, they can also improve the texture and tone of the skin, leaving it looking smoother and more youthful.
