Interested in all the amazing results from having eyelid surgery – but not so interested in potential surgical scars?
It’s a valid concern! The possibility of surgical scarring can make patients feel unsure about whether eyelid surgery is even worth the effort. After all, what’s the point of going through surgery if people are only going to notice your scars, rather than your results?
Let’s answer this question once and for all: “Does eyelid surgery leave scars?”
Yes – But They’re Well-Hidden
To start off, it’s important to acknowledge that all surgeries leave scars. But eyelid surgery – also referred to as blepharoplasty – is unique in that the scars are really hidden.
How hidden, you ask? Well, unless someone is looking directly at your lash line and searching for a scar, no one is going to notice it.
That’s because eyelid surgery incisions are made within the lash line or so close to it that it’s practically invisible. This is known as the transconjunctival technique, and these incisions make it possible for the plastic surgeon to access fat for removal, as well as reposition eye muscles to replicate a more youthful appearance.
