What is a Neck Lift?

During surgery, Dr. Schalit makes a small incision under the chin to access the muscles and skin in the neck and jawline. His many years of experience in neck lifts allows him to make an inconspicuous incision and expertly manipulate the neck muscles into the desired position. Once the muscles are in place, Dr. Schalit sutures the incisions closed.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Neck Lift?
Patients concerned about neck banding or “turkey waddles” are good candidates for a neck lift. Some other considerations include the following:
Overall Health
You may not be a good candidate for a neck lift if you suffer from a medical condition that could interfere with healing or are in poor health.
Non-Smoker
Smoking can slow the healing process and cause complications. Patients interested in a neck lift should quit smoking at least two weeks before surgery.
Realistic Expectations
During your consultation with Dr. Schalit, he will show you pictures and discuss what to expect after your neck lift. The results of the procedure will be natural-looking and allow you to still look like yourself. Your beautiful appearance will be accentuated by removing excess skin and correcting sagging muscles.
How Long is Recovery from a Neck Lift?
Most patients return to their usual activities after one to two weeks; however, we recommend postponing more strenuous activities for at least three to four weeks. After the first week, the sutures are removed. You will experience some bruising and swelling that will subside during recovery. Final results may only settle several months after your neck lift.
